Immigrant Rights

Bridges, not Barriers

Working to guarantee every immigrant resident feels seen, safe, and valued regardless of citizenship status.

Why immigrant rights?

A Shared Future

When immigrant families are held back, so is Ventura County.

Undocumented immigrants make up a significant part of Ventura County’s community and workforce, yet they face major challenges—low wages for essential work, limited access to health insurance, and the constant fear of deportation.

On top of that, gaps in education and resources make it even harder for families to find stability and opportunity. Tackling these challenges is key to building a stronger, more inclusive Ventura County.

  • 10%

One in ten Ventura County residents live with undocumented relatives

About 83,000 Ventura County residents are directly affected by harmful policies targeting undocumented people.

  • 23,000

Thousands of Ventura County kids are US citizens with undocumented parents

Many of these children live in constant fear of their parents being detained or deported.

  • 61%

Most undocumented immigrants in Ventura County didn’t finish high school

This education gap makes it harder to access good jobs, secure housing and healthcare, and build financial stability.

Our Approach

Advancing Immigrant Rights

Because every family deserves dignity and safety.

From amplifying immigrant voices to connecting families with critical support—our work reflects our commitment to fostering equity and belonging countywide.

    Advocacy & policy reform

ICE Out of Ventura County (IOOVC) is a coalition fighting to end the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s voluntary cooperation with ICE. By protecting families from harmful practices, we’re building a safer, more equitable future for immigrant communities.

    Community engagement

Our Trusted Messenger Network provides ITIN services and educates immigrant residents— especially farm workers—on their labor rights, extreme heat safety, and available resources like cooling centers. Through culturally relevant outreach, we drive crucial conversations with community members.

    Legal & professional support

We host Know Your Rights training and monthly citizenship fairs across the county—connecting immigrants with immigration attorneys, educating them on their legal rights, and supporting pathways to stability and belonging.
